ERNIE
ALBRECHT …. 4/1/37 - 1/11/03 Ernie enlisted
in the Royal Australian Army on the 19th September 1958, until 18th September
1967. Born in Yugoslavia, Ernie was a child in a war torn Europe and migrated to
Australia with his mother and sister, Helen, in the 1950s. Ernie never married
but was very supportive and helpful to his mother and sister. Ernie rendered
operational service, in Vietnam, from 14th September 1965 to 7th
September 1966. Although an ex army man, Ernie willingly associated with the
navy guys and in fact became a very eager member of our Welfare Association for
which we are extremely grateful. He spent a number of years trying to track down
some of his army mates without success. Ernie was a dedicated member of the
Welfare Association, was always ready to help and keenly attending all our
functions. It was a pleasure to see Ernie and his partner at our last Dinner
Dance, and to hear Ernie say how much he enjoyed his membership of the
Association. He was very well liked by all members and will be sadly missed.
Being very charitable, Ernie decided to leave his entire estate to the Welfare
Association, having considered that his sister was financially independent. Lest We Forget Back
