Have your say (its easy) Senate Inquiry into the mental health of Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel who have returned from combat, peacekeeping or other deployment. (The inquiry will look at the mental health support, evaluation and counselling services provided by Defence and DVA, and the identification and disclosure policies of the ADF in relation to mental ill-health and PTSD.) Tell the inquiry what you think of the system of looking after those who have suffered mental health problems including PTSD. The inquiry cannot take on individual cases, but your own bad experience might throw light on flaws in the system. So if you have had an unsatisfactory experience, give it as an example of how the system fails.Important Note: Once a committee has advised you it has authorised the release of a submission, subsequent publication of it is protected by parliamentary privilege. It is an offence for anyone to harass you or discriminate against you because you have made a submission. The content of the submission is also protected after the committee has accepted it. This means that what you say in the submission, once the committee has accepted it, cannot be used in court against you or anyone else. So if you are making accusations against anyone in your submission, it is best not to publish it before you have been notified that your submission has been accepted by the Senate Committee. To make a submission, just send an e-mail or letter or fax to the inquiry (or upload on the web-site):
Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee Fax: +02 6277 5818 If you have any queries, just ring: Phone: +02 6277 3535
Submissions to this inquiry close on 26 June 2015. Don’t miss out. Have your say.
